The history of Dollmar S.p.A.

The brilliant intuition of three enterprising partners gave birth to Dollmar S.p.A., a distributor of chlorinated solvents and chemicals for industry.

The need to store increasing quantities of different chemicals led to the construction of warehouses with underground tanks, with a maximum capacity of 3800 m³.

In 74 of the dedicated tanks, families of other solvents were later included in addition to chlorinated solvents: aromatics, alcohols, ketones and acetates.

In order to meet the demands of many paints, inks, glues and adhesives industries, it also began to produce paint thinners; born from a thoughtful blending of different thinners.

It also begins to package products in small packages and distribute them to retailers (paint stores, paint stores, small body stores, hardware stores, DIY stores, etc.).

The company’s foresight leads to investment in research and development on both new, less harmful solvents and new formulations and coatings for industrial painting.

With the increasing in the sales volumes of chemical products, Dollmar obtains representations from various European and global producers, and becomes the ideal business partner for the penetration of the Italian market by major international companies.

The path taken and the knowledge acquired lead Dollmar to produce washing systems, compatible with the products already marketed, in collaboration with an important Bologna-based company.

Combined experience in chemistry and mechanics has enabled the development of innovative processes in the world of industrial and metal washing machines.

Dollmar moves to Caleppio di Settala (MI), leaving the old and now small plant in Milan. Thus 2 operational facilities are born:

• an area dedicated to the storage of chemical products and mixtures
• an area to produce aqueous detergent lines.

The decade is characterized by the development of partnerships with other manufacturers of washing systems and industrial washing machines.

In the following years, new companies were born to distribute chemicals in new market segments, such as polyurethanes and epoxy resins (OXIPOL).

The Dollmar Group is enriched by EOS, a company able to offer increasingly demanded complementary services, such as chemical, mechanical and environmental consulting services.

Dollmar collaborates with VMD to produce and market small-cut sprays and thinners.

Driven by the desire to offer complete and efficient solutions, Dollmar Group continues to expand its product portfolio by representing several certified global manufacturers.

This working group, added to all the pre-existing structures, demonstrates the “integrated” approach Dollmar intends to pursue in order to offer its customers greater safety, reliability, seriousness of approach to industrial problems always respecting the slogan: “Chemistry and Responsibility®.”
